My Buddy AAC - Licenses and Attribution

My Buddy is built on the work of others. This page says exactly whose work, under what
licence, and what we did or did not change.

Mulberry Symbols

Licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 UK: England and Wales licence (CC BY-SA 2.0 UK).

Changes: none. The Mulberry symbol files included with My Buddy are used as published, without modification to the artwork. We select which symbol appears on which cell and display it at different sizes, but we do not alter the files themselves.

Because these symbols are unmodified, they remain available to you under CC BY-SA 2.0 UK on the same terms we received them. If we ever do modify a Mulberry symbol, the modified version will be published under that same licence and this page will say so.

Original Symbols

My Buddy also includes 283 symbols drawn specifically for this app. They are original work, not adaptations of Mulberry or of any other symbol set, and they are the property of BMC Luminary Ventures LLC. They are not covered by the Mulberry licence.

Application Code

The My Buddy application itself, including its layout, vocabulary organisation and grammar handling, is copyright BMC Luminary Ventures LLC. It is a separate work from the Mulberry artwork it displays, and the CC BY-SA licence on those symbols does not extend to it.

Speech

Spoken output uses the text-to-speech voices built into your own device, through the browser's Web Speech API or the operating system's speech service. Those voices belong to Apple, Google, Microsoft or whoever else made your device. My Buddy does not include or distribute any voice.

No Third-Party Code

My Buddy uses no third-party JavaScript libraries, frameworks, analytics, advertising software or crash reporting. There is nothing else to attribute.

Independence

My Buddy AAC is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other communication software or its publishers. Any other product names that may appear are the property of their respective owners.
