My Buddy AAC is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app designed for individuals with speech and language difficulties. It is built by BMC Luminary Ventures LLC, Prescott, Arizona.
We take privacy seriously — especially because this app may be used by children and vulnerable individuals.
We collect no data whatsoever.
All app data — including the child's name, address, emergency info, custom words, and preferences — is stored locally on your device only using the browser's localStorage API. This data:
The app may request access to your device's camera or photo library so you can use personal photos as picture icons for words. Photos selected are stored locally on the device and are never uploaded or transmitted anywhere.
My Buddy AAC uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine (Web Speech API) to speak words and sentences aloud. All speech processing happens on-device. No audio data is recorded, stored, or transmitted.
My Buddy AAC is designed to be safe for use by children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
My Buddy AAC uses zero third-party services. There are no analytics providers, crash reporters, advertising networks, or cloud services integrated into this app.
The app includes pictographic symbols from the Mulberry Symbols project, licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0 UK. These are static image files bundled with the app — no network requests are made to fetch them.
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page with the new effective date. Given that this app collects no data, we do not anticipate changes.
